Conference “The Digital Health Projectathon and the SwissHDS”

What to expect: Healthcare digitalization in Switzerland currently operates through isolated systems with incompatible standards, limiting efficiency, collaboration and innovation across the sector. The Swiss Health Data Space (SwissHDS) addresses this fundamental challenge by establishing common regulations and standards that enable secure, interoperable data exchange.
As one of the key projects of the DigiSanté programme, led jointly by the Federal Office of Public Health and the Federal Statistical Office, SwissHDS provides a standardized architecture to connect various healthcare systems. Healthdata remains decentralized with respective service providers but is made available in standardized formats for secure exchange when required. National core services ensure reliable, secure, and transparent operations.
This standardization creates significant benefits for the entire healthcare ecosystem: reduced information gaps, improved treatment support, and new opportunities for innovation and collaboration between private and public stakeholders.
The conference will explore how a collaborative testing initiative can bring together private and public actors in healthcare digitalization to test national core services, jointly build the technical infrastructure, and prepare effectively for SwissHDS implementation.
Workshop “HL7® FHIR® established as the standard – so what does that mean? ”

What to expect: As part of the DigiSanté programme, the Healthcare Data Management Expert Group (FDMG) has decided to make the international HL7® FHIR® standard mandatory as the foundation for data exchange within the Swiss Health Data Space (SwissHDS). What does this mean in practical terms, and does it solve all interoperability issues? This workshop will address these questions, as well as queries from the audience.

Workshop “Interoperability in health data management”

What to expect: The problem is long known: health data and documents are shared with difficulties between Swiss healthcare institutions, increasing administrative tasks. A potential solution is “interoperability”. What does interoperability mean? What does it encompass and what does it not cover? How advanced are the works in interoperability? What are the challenges? And how would it help healthcare professionals? This workshop will present a general overview of the situation in Switzerland, as well as two ongoing projects, the UMZH Connect in Zurich and the Shared Medication Plan from Geneva, and answer queries from the public.
